2012-2013 Fiat 500: Recall Alert

2012-2013 Fiat 500: Recall Alert

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 51,800 model-year 2012-13 Fiat 500 hatchbacks equipped with six-speed automatic transmissions

The Problem: The shifter cable bushing may fail, allowing the cable to detach from the transmission. This may cause the transmission to not shift into a selected gear. Additionally, despite selecting Park with the shifter, the car may roll away. These scenarios may increase the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the shifter cable adjuster for free.

What Owners Should Do: Fiat manufacturer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will begin notifying owners Jan. 4, 2020. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
