2019-2020 Ford Mustang: Everything You Need to Know06/21/2019
For 2019 and 2020, the iconic Ford Mustang is still as stunning as ever. Even though we get a full redesign only every decade or so (the most recent overhaul was for 2015, and year-to-year updates haven’t been a whole lot to write home about), the 2019 and 2020 model-year Mustangs are definitely bringing some excitement to the party with new high-performance variants.

The 2019 Mustang Shelby GT350 managed to improve upon the greatness of its 2018 predecessor with new, specially developed Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires — the traction of which resulted in Ford engineers making all kinds of updates to the car, from the suspension to the steering to aerodynamics. Also new in 2019 is the suave Bullitt edition (Ford’s third) inspired by the Mustang driven in the classic 1968 Steve McQueen film of the same name.
As for the highly anticipated 2020 Shelby GT500, it hits almost all of the superlatives. Ford says it’s the most powerful production model the Blue Oval has ever built. The dual-clutch seven-speed automatic is the fastest-shifting transmission Ford says it’s ever put in a Mustang. And what’s a pony car without some horsepower? The GT500 will put out 760 hp, topping the Chevrolet Camaro’s 650 hp and the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat base model’s 717 hp (though it does trail the Hellcat Redeye by 37 horses).
All pumped up about this iconic muscle car but can’t bear to wait until the next redesign in — if history is an indicator — like, 2025, for new stuff on the ’Stang? Here’s everything you need to know about the 2019 and 2020 Mustangs:
