2023 Cadillac Lyric, Kia EV6 top this week’s new car reviews


It’s beginning to look a lot like the EV tipping point to mass adoption, sang no one. Pardon our holiday spirit, but the Cadillac Lyric and Kia EV6 electric crossovers really put a charge in our sleigh this week. We also finalized our finalists for The Car Connection Best Car To Buy 2023 award, to be announced Jan. 4, 2023, and rounded up those new and redesigned 2023 models that missed the cut for one reason or another. 

Here’s what else moved us this week, aside from subzero windchills and weak holiday puns. 

2023 Cadillac Lyriq review

Sensational style and strong performance vault the Cadillac Lyriq SUV to a TCC Rating of 8.4 out of 10.

2023 Kia EV6 review

The 2023 Kia EV6 balances performance and efficiency, style and roominess, value and features better than most electric crossovers. It earns a TCC Rating of 8.2 out of 10. 

2023 Chrysler Pacifica review

 If you’re willing to sacrifice the trick Stow ‘n Go seating, the Pacifica Hybrid is one of the most versatile, comfortable, and efficient family vehicles. The Pacifica lineup earns a TCC Rating of 7.0 out of 10.

2023 BMW 7-Series review

It’s a fantastic luxury sedan with great power, lots of space, and exemplary comfort. It earns a TCC Rating of 7.0 out of 10.

2023 Toyota Highlander review

The Highlander is a top choice for its efficient powertrain options, roomy interior, reliability, and overall value on base and mid-grade models. It earns a TCC Rating of 6.8 out of 10.

2023 Ford Explorer review

The sporty three-row SUV with rear-wheel drive ages well except for its ever-increasing price. It earns a TCC Rating of 6.5 out of 10. 

2023 Lexus NX review

Offered in gas-only, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid forms, the 2023 Lexus NX serves up a comfortable cabin and lots of in-car tech at a reasonable price tag. It’s a 6.3 out of 10 on the TCC scale.

2023 Mazda CX-5 review

With good reflexes and great safety scores, the Mazda CX-5 outguns its ritzier sibling and earns a TCC Rating of 6.3 out of 10. 

2023 Subaru WRX review

The WRX provides peppy power and agile moves, resulting in a little car that’s fun yet just practical enough. It earns a 6.0 out of 10.
