2023 Rivian R1T, Genesis GV70 top this week’s new car reviews

The calendar year may be coming to an end, and a beginning, but the automotive calendar has been spinning out 2023 models for at least six months now. We catch up on some luxury electric and German brands, as well as revisit two excellent and related sports cars, one with a droptop, the other not so much. 

Here’s what moved us this week. 

2023 Rivian R1T review

The 2023 Rivian R1T electric pickup truck excels on many fronts, including its off-road capability, blistering performance, advanced technology, innovative storage spaces, and three battery pack sizes. It ain’t cheap, though. 

2023 Jaguar I-Pace review

The Jaguar I-Pace electric crossover offers strong performance and versatility, matched with an alluring design and traditional Jaguar cabin appointments. It earns a TCC Rating of 8.2 out of 10.

2023 Genesis GV70 review

This starter-luxury SUV brand fits its quirky body with a stellar interior for a TCC Rating of 7.2 out of 10. 

2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class review

A crossover SUV with a mildly retro profile, the 2023 GLB combines refreshing style, excellent performance, and good safety scores to earn a TCC Rating of 6.8 out of 10.

2023 Audi Q7 review

The 2023 Audi Q7 strikes a happy medium ground between BMW’s muscularity and Mercedes-Benz’s elegance. It’s a 6.7. 

2023 Toyota Camry review

America’s bestselling sedan still puts up a fight against more popular crossover SUVs with its range of powertrain options and good standard safety set. It earns a TCC Rating of 6.7 out of 10.

2023 Audi A7 review

The 2023 Audi A7 is a sedan—no, wait, a hatchback—with strong turbocharged power, svelte style, and a huge trunk that help it to a TCC Rating of 6.6 out of 10.

2023 Porsche Macan review

It may be the smallest Porsche SUV, but the Macan pairs sharp handling and good turbo power with an upscale interior. It earns a 6.4 out of 10. 

2023 BMW Z4 review

About five seconds to 60 mph, 10 seconds to sunshine: it’s like the 2023 Z4 knows us. The roadster earns a 6.2. 

2023 Toyota Supra review

With its new manual transmission, the 2023 Supra carves out a more compelling sports-car profile. But limited practicality limits its TCC Rating to 5.8 out of 10. 

2023 Volkswagen Jetta review

The Jetta’s suave dynamics, comfy interior, and decent value land it at 5.7 out of 10 on the TCC scale.
