The designs will celebrate four iconic teams from the history of Formula One which could be an ideal purchase for fans or sportscar owners. The collection will have designs from McLaren, Ferrari, Mercedes and Aston Martin.

Lewis Hamilton fans can get their hands on a special design celebrating his world championship winning team.

“AMF 1F” pays homage to Mercedes but is the most expensive in the collection with a starting price of £500.

Alongside the raft of registrations is “MCL 35M” which is sure to also be popular among British fans.

The plate will be available for £350 and celebrates the model number and racing machine for British star Lando Norris and Australia’s Daniel Ricciardo.

British racing fans can also get their hands on “AMR 21F” celebrating Aston Martin’s return to the series this year.

Fans of historic racing could also purchase the car to celebrate the team’s previous run in Formula One between 1959 and 1960.

The brand enjoyed two seasons in F1 before pulling out with the green cars driven by Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby

The lineup also includes “SF21 FER” which is styled to reflect Ferrari’s latest chassis design.

Jody Davies, DVLA Personalised Registrations’ Senior Sales Manager said F1 themed plates “always prove popular” with customers.

The DVLA said they expected the new sale will “be a hit” among consumers

She said: “Formula One, and everything surrounding the sport including the race cars, teams and drivers, always prove popular with our customers.

“Those personalised registrations included in this latest sale will, I’m sure, be a hit.

“That said, they really are just a select few from 1,000 being auctioned all of which have been hand selected to suit all tastes and budgets.”

Alongside the F1 plates, the DVLA’s next auction on 23 June will feature 1,000 personalised registrations.

The seven-day auction is the first from the DVLA to feature the new 71 series ahead of the new vehicle launch in September.

All new designs have been given a starting price of £400.

Name specific designs will also be for sale such as “AMY 7C”, “EU66 ENE” and “WIL 2020”.
