New Honda Models Will Have Built-in Google Starting in 2022

Honda has struck a partnership with Google to integrate the tech giant’s in-vehicle connected services into upcoming models. The built-in Google operating system will debut in the second half of 2022, beginning with an all-new model for the North American market.

Differing from the Android mobile app that mirrors certain functions onto the infotainment system, the embedded tech features will include Google Maps and Google’s voice-activated Assistant. Helping to eliminate the need to use a smartphone while driving, users can download various in-vehicle apps directly from Google Play, including their favorite music streaming service, podcasts, and audiobooks.

Through this new collaboration, Honda aims to enhance the user experience for its customers with seamless connectivity and advanced tech. The Japanese automaker first collaborated with Google in 2015 when it introduced Android Auto on the Honda Accord and later across its lineup.

Honda plans to launch these Google features with the all-new model, first available in North America, which goes on sale in the later part of 2022. It will gradually expand the integration globally afterward. We could expect the next-gen honda cr-v to feature built-in Google, but that’s pure speculation.
