Brennan Poole joins deep 2020 NASCAR Cup rookie class

Brennan Poole will join the Cup Series in 2020 with Premium Motorsports.

Brennan Poole will join the NASCAR Cup Series in 2020, driving the No. 15 for Premium Motorsports.

The 28-year-old joins a loaded rookie class that includes Tyler Reddick, Christopher Bell and Cole Custer. Poole has long been considered a gritty underfunded racer who maximizes his equipment. And now he’s with a team that needs that type of driver to break into the top half of the field.

“I’ve been working towards this moment since I was 5 and feel blessed to have the caliber of people surrounding me that I have in this next chapter of my racing career,” Poole said in a press release. “I look forward to the opportunity to showcase our sponsor partners, both new and existing, who are supporting me at the highest level of NASCAR competition.”

Poole takes over the car that was piloted by Ross Chastain for a majority of the schedule in 2019 where his championship-contending Truck Series schedule allowed.

Poole’s most notable NASCAR experience came in the Xfinity Series with Chip Ganassi Racing from 2016-17 with a best finish of second in the 2017 event at Kentucky Speedway. He is a six-time winner in the ARCA Menards Series for Venturini Motorsports.

He made 13 starts in the Gander Truck Series for On-Point Motorsports with a best finish of second at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May. He also finished 15th in the prestigious Martinsville 300 Late Model Stock with an old car that was sitting in the woods three weeks before On-Point cleaned it up for race conditions.

“I’m very happy to welcome Brennan and his group to the Premium Motorsports family,” team owner Jay Robinson said in the press release. “Brennan is a very talented and dedicated young man. I believe he has a very bright future in the NASCAR Cup Series.”
