Covid-19: Bajaj pledges Rs. 100 crore towards medical aid

The Bajaj Group has pledged Rs. 100 crore for the fight against Covid-19. Through its network of over 200 NGO partners, the company will ensure these resources reach those in need.

In Pune, Bajaj will support upgradation of key healthcare infrastructure required to tackle this disease. The aid will support both private and Government hospitals in Pune, Pune (Rural) and Pimpri Chinchwad to upgrade ICUs, procure additional equipment, ventilators, personal protection equipment, enhance testing and set up isolation units.

Bajaj will also extend support to those most affected by the lockdown by offering food, shelter and access to sanitation and healthcare. These include daily wage workers, the homeless and street children.

An economic aid programme will benefit those living in rural areas. It will include a direct survival grant, followed by a livelihood intervention using a revolving fund model. The family pays back the loan from the earnings of the livelihood intervention. 80% of the funds provided to the family are returned to a community fund, which can be provided to the needy.

Bajaj will also help create awareness about Covid-19 in rural areas. The company will strengthen the health infrastructure by improving diagnostic centres and isolation facilities.
