Ferrari teases possible hypercar ahead of its debut

05/28/2019

Ferrari’s upcoming hyper car is rumored to be a 1,000 hp hybrid.

On the heels of Ferrari announcing the F8 Tributo at the Geneva motor show earlier this year, it looks like the company wasn’t just working on a replacement for its 488. Ahead of an official unveiling, Ferrari is teasing its wildly speculated upon V8 hypercar. The upcoming hypercar is expected to make around 1,000 hp by way of a V8 and a hybrid system.

Of course, we don’t know if these figures are anywhere close to accurate, but with horsepower numbers climbing into the stratosphere and electrification getting better, it’s not out of the question. Using a hybrid powertrain makes sense for  Ferrari considering everything the company must have learned from its Formula 1 program.

Adding some credence to the hybrid speculation, a few weeks back a pair of people in a Ferrari 488 chased the expected hypercar out testing. While trying to duck the duo, the Ferrari prototype dives into a parking lot where we can hear it creep almost silently.

Anyway, it appears all will get sorted out tomorrow, judging from the date on the teaser. We expect that this one will live up to Ferrari’s last halo hybrid: LaFerrari. There’s no word about how much it will cost or how many will be available, but there’s probably already a list of potential customers. If you’re on it, we bet Ferrari will reach out to you.
